Wonderful
trip- I'm very happy to see the sunshine and beautiful weather in
South Texas- it rained a lot. There is a reason it is so green in
Ireland. Saw the most beautiful rainbows- they looked fake- but in
order to have rainbows you usually have rain. The weather could change
every 15 minutes. We saw glorious sunshine, blustery cold, and pouring
rain all within an hour. But none of it held us back as we charged
forth to soak it all in- literally. But every experience was great fun! The
group was wonderful. I have never laughed so much in my life! We
played cards and bonded with each other on our trek through Ireland. The Irish people were fun filled and fun loving along with being very pleased to have us in their country. Three of
us wandered into Evensong church service at Christ Church in Dublin for
an amazing worship service with pipe organ and choir. Very high church
for protestant service. Incense, procession of the clergy and choir-
very formal and beautiful, especially with the cathedral acoustics. We
went to Killarney, Ring of Kerry, Dingle Peninsula (I always wanted to
say "I'm from Dingle" with a straight face), Blarney Castle, Cashel
Rock, Dublin, Galway, Clifton, Kylemore Abbey, Westport, Cliffs of
Moher, Aran Islands, Bunratty Castle, Limerick- and I'm sure more that
I'm not recalling right now. We saw quaint villages, big
cities, barren islands, turf bogs, Guiness tour, Book of Kells, Trinity
University, live crystal cutting demonstration, rock quarry and the
Connemara Marble jewelry, took a jaunting (horse and buggy) ride
through national forest, boat ride through the lower lake at
Killarney, took a very, very long hike through waterfalls and amazing
forests (nicknamed the death march as Julie discovered that the 1.5
mile hike was really closer to 8 miles), kissed the Blarney stone
(which requires hanging upside down out a four story castle- some,
including me, decided we already had the gift of gab and didn't really
want H1N1), stone age forts, Spanish arches (the Spanish Armada
shipwrecked off the shores of Galway and those sailors went on to
become Irish with a Latin Quarter to the city), a tribute to JFK (who
visited 6 months before his death and had 8 Irish grandparents), tried
to keep our church count somewhat close to our Pub count, saw Irish set
dancing and experienced amazing native music at every turn in every
Pub at every stop, went to Riverdance type show, had amazing food
(some of the best I've ever had) and basically ate my way across
Ireland where Bailey's cheesecake is almost always on the menu. The
experience was wonderful and recommended to all. Amazing Irish Tours
and Julie Wise with Tour Guide Bob (Robert Parks) did a wonderful job-
along with our precious Irish tour guide and bus driver that got us
through some tiny spaces unscathed. They laughed along with us and
will miss us, I think, as we definitely livened up life for the 2 weeks.
